OUR STORY

Founded in 2003, Abi Films is a leading production house in Botswana with a legacy that dates back to 1998. From creating Botswana’s first feature film to producing internationally acclaimed documentaries, we have continuously set benchmarks in the industry.

Our work includes high-profile projects such as the behind-the-scenes documentary for The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency and corporate collaborations with brands like Orange and FNB Botswana.

At Abi Films, storytelling is at the heart of what we do. We combine local insights with international best practices to deliver content that inspires, informs, and connects audiences worldwide.

MOABI MOGOROSI

Moabi Mogorosi is an accomplished filmmaker and the founder of Abi Films, a leading production company in Botswana since 2003. With a strong background in film and media from Columbia College Chicago, he has directed the feature film Hot Chili (2004) and contributed to international projects like Manic (2001) and The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (2008).

Under his leadership, Abi Films has worked with major brands such as Orange Botswana and FCB Wired, producing high-quality content that resonates both locally and globally. Beyond filmmaking, Moabi is passionate about nurturing local talent and enriching Botswana’s cultural landscape through authentic storytelling and innovative productions.

Bert Haitsma has over 20 years of experience as a Director Of Photography in drama-series, fiction films (Netflix, Amazon Prime), documentaries and commercials. He is a member of the Netherland Society of Cinematographers (NSC).

Thabang has served as a Junior Writer at Abi Films and is currently the Storytelling Manager, as well as an Assistant to the Director and a Production Assistant at Abi Films.Thabang has worked on several productions at Abi Films, primarily as a screenwriter.

Karabo has worked in various roles on the majority of productions at Abi Films, from from the grips and gaffer departments, to locations. He is currently the production manager.

Assie is a Certified Chartered Accountant with 20+ years of experience. Her work experience includes Institute of Development Management, Botswana Housing Corporation, Hyundai Motors, PG Timbers, Sun International, Table Bay Cold Storage, Botswana Meat Commission, Zambezi Motors Holdings, and CAN Manufacturers. She is an expert in financial management, cost reduction, internal controls, and operational improvement.
